Jochen and Eoin meet in the Berlin 2016 Fight Night Combat final
Even though, for the second year in a row, there was no Berlin Juggling Convention this year, the top combat jugglers in Berlin met up in the park to continue the annual Fight Night tournament. Only 10 jugglers took part, but the average level of players was incredibly high; even the eighth seed, Corinna Biedermann, is a former EJC Fight Night semi-finalist.
Both semi-final matches were very close battles, coming down to a score of 4-4 before a deciding point, where either player could win. Another match in the longest Fight Night rivalry saw Jochen Pfeiffer beating Luke Burrage by a single point. The other semi-final was between current EJC champion Eóin Allan and recent NJF runner-up Markus Utke, with Eóin making it to the final by one point.
The third place match was won 5-4 by Markus, in his first victory against Luke Burrage in four attempts, and he finished one place above Luke in his second tournament in a row. Luke's fourth place finish breaks a streak of 18 tournaments in a row finishing either first, second or third. His last tournament outside of the top three was Berlin 2014.
And the final match between Jochen and Eóin was a replay of the Berlin 2014 final. That was their first meeting, and since then Jochen has beaten Eóin another three times. Check out the video of Saturday's final to see if Eóin finally takes his first win against Jochen.
Due to the tournament only being worth 250 points to the victor, Saturday's result doesn't change the 52 week current rankings much, except for Alexander Müller climbing two spots to 13th after his round of 8 loss to Luke Burrage. Markus's extra 105 points for third place secures his hold on fourth in the 2016 race rankings.
