Congratulations to Julius Preu who, after five runner-up finishes and two third places, finally won a Fight Night at Configuvention in Aachen, Germany on Sunday. This is the longest streak of second places finishes without a tournament win in the history of Fight Night Combat, but Julius is no longer the holder of the "Always the Bridesmaid" title.
In his first match Julius faced former top-10 player Matty Schneider, and in the semi-final he beat the tournament organizer and host Leo Ostenrath. Manuel Mitasch, who for the second time in his Fight Night record was the top seed after going unbeaten in qualification, also made it to the final, only to be defeated 7 points to 2.
18 jugglers took part in the Aachen 2016 Fight Night, and it fulfilled all the requirements needed to bump up from a 250 point tournament to the 300 point level. Julius's extra points means he rises to his highest ever position in the 52 week current rankings at 8th place.

Appleby, a small town in the north of England, hosted the Cumbria Juggling Convention 2016 on Saturday. Jon Peat won in 2015, and this year he retained his title by defeating Rob Woolley 5-3 in the final match.
Due to the Cumbria 2016 tournament falling short of the 250 point requirements, Jon only picked up 200 points for his win. This is enough to bump him up one place to 4th in the 2016 race rankings, though he drops one place to 9th in the 52 week current rankings due to Julius Preu's result in Aachen.
While the NJF 2016 trophies were banana-themed, due to the Cumbria tournament taking place in Appleby, Jon was awarded the "Golden Apple" trophy.

This coming weekend sees the next 500 point tournament of the year take place in Lublin, Poland. In 2017 the EJC is taking place in Lublin, so this tournament is going to be an exciting proving ground for the local jugglers like Jakub Szwed and Artur Perskawiec, both top-20 players in the 52 weeks rankings.
