Alex Leymann arrived in Halle for the "Tohuwabohu" juggling convention as the clear favourite to win the Fight Night Combat tournament, having recently taken the title in Magdeburg, and was ranked 6th in the FNC 52 week rankings.
But Alex only qualified as second seed, and was beaten in the final match 5-2 by top seed Enrico Lohmann. This is Enrico's first title in four tournaments. At the European Juggling Convention Enrico only just missed out on qualifying for the knockout, earning himself 90 rankings points in Bruneck, the highest possible points haul by a non-qualifier in the year's biggest tournament.
In total 16 players took part in the qualifications. Fabian Fehlhaber, who was the runner up in Suderburg a few weeks ago, had to settle for third, beating Martin Schwalenberg in the third place match.
Alex's 2nd place result didn't help in the 52 week rankings, but bumped him up one spot in the 2015 race rankings. He now occupies the 7th spot in the provisional invite list to the European Masters 2015 in December, and is looking to cement his spot with a good result at the Hamburg 2015 Fight Night this coming Friday.
Enrico climbs 35 places in the 2015 Race Rankings to a tied 17th place, and to a tied 21st place in the 52 week rankings.
Thanks to Alex for organizing the tournament, and Sarah Richter for the photo! See all the results and details at the Halle 2015 page at fightnightcombat.com/http://fightnightcombat.com/tournament-Halle-2015.html
As for other recent news, the J-Fest in Turkey didn't hold a Fight Night, and La Conve Pie Derecho in Lima, Peru was postponed due to an international trade summit being held in the city over the same dates. The convention and combat tournament will now take place in November.
